Code of Conduct

As a founder-owned company, jambit GmbH (“jambit”) is guided in its actions by aspects such as integrity, ethics, sustainability, and legally compliant behavior.

jambit is aware of its corporate responsibility and conducts its business activities in a responsible manner. The following corporate ethics policy (“Code of Conduct” or ‘CoC’) supports jambit's values for social, environmental, and ethical conduct (“ESG principles”) based on the corporate principles.

The requirements contained in this guideline are based on international agreements and recommendations, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of the United Nations (UN), the principles of the UN Global Compact,  the Core Labor Standards of the International Labor Organization (ILO), ILO Conventions Nos. 138 and 182, and the ILO-IOE Child Labor Guidance Tool for Business of December 15, 2015, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and the Modern Slavery Act.

The ESG principles form the basis that jambit in turn requires from its suppliers and business partners within the framework of its cooperative partnerships.

1. Social responsibility

jambit is committed to fundamental employee rights in accordance with the basic principles of the International Labor Organization (ILO).

  • Respect for human rights

jambit respects internationally recognized human rights as fundamental values and promotes compliance with them.

  • Prohibition of child labor and young workers

jambit acts in accordance with Convention No. 138 of the International Labor Organization (ILO) on the minimum age for admission to employment and takes appropriate measures to protect adolescent employees.

  • Rights of minorities and indigenous peoples

jambit does not tolerate any form of discrimination based on race, nationality, ethnic or social origin, gender, religion or belief, disability, age, or sexual identity and takes the necessary measures to protect them against any discrimination. Any complaint about alleged discrimination will be thoroughly investigated and comprehensively clarified.

  • Equal opportunities, women's rights, diversity, equality, and inclusion

jambit respects the right to freedom of association, which includes the formation and association of interest groups (especially unions or union-like groups). jambit does not restrict its employees in pursuing their interests and protects them from any form of disadvantage arising from the exercise of these rights.

  • Prohibition of discrimination and other forms of disadvantage

jambit will be transparent and truthful towards potential employees regarding the activities required for the employment and neither mislead nor deceive them in any way. jambit will not demand remuneration for recruitment for employment and/or confiscate, destroy, conceal, and/or deny access to passports and other government-issued identification documents. At the beginning of their employment, employees will receive a written or digitally signed contract and, in addition, written proof of the essential terms of the contract in a language they understand, clearly informing them of their rights and obligations.

  • Freedom of association and collective bargaining

jambit rejects any form of forced labor or other involuntary work. Corporal punishment or other forms of psychological or physical hardship and abuse are not tolerated.

  • Ethical recruitment

jambit takes appropriate measures to establish a safe and healthy working environment for its employees and fosters this based on their own initiative and responsibility.

  • Prohibition of forced labor, modern slavery, and human trafficking

jambit creates fair working conditions that guarantee a dignified life, appropriate wages and legally compliant remuneration and social benefits, and ensures compliance with the legal framework for working hours and vacation.

  • Occupational health and safety

jambit acts in accordance with Convention No. 138 of the International Labor Organization (ILO) on the minimum age for admission to employment and takes appropriate measures to protect adolescent employees.

  • Fair working conditions (wages, social benefits, and working hours)

jambit respects internationally recognized human rights as fundamental values and promotes compliance with them.

  • Prohibition of child labor and young workers

jambit will not hire private or public security forces to protect business projects if the use of security forces could lead to human rights violations due to a lack of training or control on the part of the company.

2. Environmental responsibility

jambit acts responsibly on its own initiative and conviction within the scope of its business operations to avoid hazards to people and the environment and to minimize its ecological impact.

  • Sustainable action

Being conscious of its social responsibility, jambit considers it important to anchor sustainable environmental and climate protection as well as resource efficiency in its everyday business operations. jambit aims to continuously and permanently minimize negative impacts on the environment.

  • Compliance with legal requirements

jambit's locations comply with the applicable legal requirements and standards for environmental protection.

  • Systematic environmental management

jambit's environmental management system (EMS) is certified according to ISO 14001.

  • Land, forest, and water rights as well as forced eviction

In its business context, jambit will avoid forced evictions and the withdrawal of land, forests, and water bodies when acquiring, developing, or otherwise using land, forests, and water bodies.

3. Ethical responsibility

jambit conducts its business activities in a fair, responsible, and compliant manner.

  • Prohibition of corruption

jambit does not tolerate business practices that violate applicable anti-corruption regulations, either in business transactions or in dealings with public officials. Employees, subcontractors, or other business partners acting on behalf of jambit are prohibited from granting or accepting any form of advantage, bribery, or corruption.

  • Fair competition and antitrust law

jambit conducts itself fairly in competition and refrains from any behavior that violates applicable antitrust and competition laws. Furthermore, jambit does not enter into any agreements or concerted practices with other companies that influence prices, terms and conditions, or customer relationships, and does not tolerate any behavior that could restrict competition in an impermissible manner.

  • Prevention of money laundering

jambit complies with the legal provisions on money laundering prevention.

  • Transparent selection process

jambit subjects potential business partners to a selection process prior to working with them to ensure that this code of conduct is complied with.

  • Avoidance of conflicts of interest

jambit bases its decisions on objective considerations and does not allow itself to be guided by personal interests in an impermissible manner. If an employee becomes aware of a potential conflict of interest, jambit is informed immediately.

  • Disclosure of information

jambit regularly discloses financial and non-financial information in accordance with legal requirements and industry practices (including occupational health and safety measures, environmental practices, business activities, financial position, and performance). jambit cooperates with regulatory and judicial measures and discloses operational information in full in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Data protection and information security

jambit complies with applicable data protection and information security regulations. jambit also ensures, within the framework of existing confidentiality obligations, that trade secrets and other confidential information of customers, business partners, and other third parties remain confidential. Being certified according to the TISAX standard and ISO 27001, jambit can guarantee every required level of information security.

  • Protection of intellectual property and plagiarism

jambit is aware of the importance of respecting intellectual property and sensitizes its employees to this issue. As part of the onboarding process for new employees, they are trained in the legal basis of copyrights and intellectual property.

  • Export controls and economic sanctions

jambit complies with all prescribed export controls and customs laws as well as existing economic sanctions and embargoes.

  • Whistleblowing

All employees are encouraged to immediately report any potential violations of the CoC, or risks identified in this context, to meldestelle@jambit.com to allow for immediate intervention and investigation. All reports will be treated confidentially. Any form of discrimination against employees for reporting in good faith is prohibited.

  • Compliance with (other) legal provisions

jambit acts in accordance with the law in its actions, measures, the conclusion and fulfillment of contracts, and other business transactions. jambit ensures compliance with the applicable legal framework through an appropriate compliance management system.
