jambit CoffeeTalks III / 2019

Learn More About Kubernetes Cluster, Convolutional Neural Networks and Daimler EQ in the Cloud

Several times per year, jambit is organizing the CoffeeTalks for all employees, where usually jambitees or sometimes also external guests give a talk about a specific topic. Most times, these talks are about a specific area of software development or project management, but also about innovative projects by jambit with different customers. In short: the CoffeeTalks are a vital part of our jambit work culture, with the focus on sharing knowledge with everybody in the company.

On July 5, the third edition of 2019 focuses on automated installation of Kubernetes Clusters and the functions of Convolutional Neural Networks, as well as on a recent cloud project of jambit for Daimler EQ. Next to our software architects Sergii and Michael, we are excited to welcome Dr. Emre Yay and Alex Berger from Daimler as guest speakers for our CoffeeTalks III / 2019. You are invited to join and listen to these interesting talks while enjoying a delicious cup of jambit coffee.

The Agenda for the jambit CoffeeTalks III / 2019

Sergii Kudriavtsev, Software Architect, jambit GmbH

1:00 – 1:45 p.m.: Automated installation of Kubernetes Cluster

Sergii Kudriavtsev, Software Architect, Business Division Media

Infrastructure has long been "as code" these days. But what about Kubernetes? Sergii Kudriavtsev will share his experience with the Google GIFEE (Google Infrastructure for Everybody Else) project plus talk about how to set up and manage Kubernetes clusters automatically – without any vendor lock and yet suitable for development or production.

Michael Panchenko, Software Architect, jambit GmbH

2:15 – 3:15 p.m.: Convolutional Neural Networks – how they learn and how to trick them

Michael Panchenko, Software Architect, Business Division New Business

Convolutional Neural Networks, or simply CNN, are often used for image analysis, such as classification and object segmentation. By now, you can download trained and highly efficient models with just a few clicks and, if desired, further adapt them to your purposes. But what have such networks really learned at the end of the day? Despite all "black boxing", many functions of trained neural networks can be investigated and visualized. With the help of simple calculations, hallucinogenic images, and dogs transformed into lions, we will examine CNNs carefully.

Daimler EQ – Transformation eines Big Ball of Muds zu einer modernen Cloud Architektur

3:45 – 4:45 p.m.: Daimler EQ – A Big Ball of Mud's Transformation into a Modern Cloud Architecture

Dr. Emre Yay and Alex Berger, Product Owner for Back-End and App, Daimler

At the SOP of EQ (Electic Intelligence), the back-end behind it was set up rapidly. To keep up with the fast development in electric mobility, jambit turns the complete back-end for the EQ series upside down – including both old and new vehicles – and migrates it to the cloud. Additional apps and features are planned. The Daimler product owners for back-end and apps will personally report on how this transformation to a modern cloud architecture succeeds with the help of jambit.
