Vortrag (in German)
Deep JavaScript
Which languages are behind JavaScript?
Everyone knows JavaScript and probably has used it on a website to create a particular effect.
But which languages are behind JavaScript? By now, even large programs (e.g. Google Mail, Quake 2, and the Unreal Engine 3) can be realized in JavaScript, running inside a browser.
In the talk, the speaker will explore some of the concepts at the base of JavaScript, the mastery of which is essential for large, complex applications:
- Objects,
- Prototypes,
- Functions,
- Closures,
- Constructors.
Furthermore, the talk will provide tips for everyday development with JavaScript and will point out references in the ECMAScript standard.

Lecture (in English)
A practical introduction to git
Presenter: Michael Kerrisk
The first Subversion release was in 2000, and by now, Subversion, based on the same Centralized model instituted by CVS (in 1986!), certainly feels very 20th century.
Starting in the mid-2000s, Distributed Version Control Systems have taken the Open Source world by storm. Among DCVS systems, git--the VCS first created for Linux kernel development--has become the clear leader in mindshare, and, many argue, in features.
This talk will provide a short practical introduction to git, covering the following:
- Creating a repository
- Basic operations: adding +updating files; status; log
- Branches and merging
- Working with remote repositories
- A summary of more advanced git features
Michael Kerrisk ist Experte für Linux und Open Source Software, Maintainer der Linux Kernel man-Pages und Autor des Buches 'The LINUX programming interface'.

TUM Career Fair
IKOM
Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Campus Garching
As a top employer, jambit will present itself on June 26, 2013 during the IKOM in Garching.
The IKOM is one of the largest career forums in Germany and currently the largest career fair in southern Germany. It is located on TUM Campus in Garching. As a potential employer, jambit will participate again this year in the career fair. It will be presenting itself in the hopes of winning over students from various disciplines who are interested and motivated in internships, working on their final projects/theses, and/or working full-time at jambit.
At our stand, not only can you become better acquainted with jambit, you can also establish personal contacts with jambit. We will be delighted to tell you about the jambit coffee story, our team spirit, our projects, the plethora of career opportunities jambit offers, and, of course, about what awaits you as a future jambitee.
And last but not least, there are two other interesting highlights: Markus Hartinger, one of the two jambit managing directors and mentor at the TU, will take part in the podium discussion, and our much sought-after coffee will be made available at our stand.
