Event: AGBC Day with the Munich Cowboys at Dante Stadion
Date: Sat, 11 Jul 2009 15:25
Location: Dante Stadion on Dante Strasse 4
Description: Looking for some mid-summer All-American
Action made in Germany? If so, come join
the AGBC on the 11th of July for an
afternoon of American football, hosted by
our Munich Cowboys.
The Cowboys are in the midst of a
challenging 2009 season, tackling some of
the best football teams in the First German
Football League (GFL). Headed by President
Werner Maier, an AGBC member, and coached by
John Rosenberg (former NFL coach and NCAA
coach at Penn State and Brown University),
the Fighting Bayrisch take on their Southern
Germany arch rivals, the Stuttgart
Scorpions, on Saturday afternoon, 11 July.
We are organizing an AGBC Day at Dante
Stadion to watch his exciting match-up,
featuring great talent and promising action-
packed football. Both teams have strong
offenses - excellent passing, running,
kicking, and punting - combined with stellar
tackle- and interception-oriented defenses.
The atmosphere is American: cheerleaders,
hamburgers, hotdogs, pickles and ⦠of
course, Bier. A general description of the
game rules and further info are available on
the website (www.munich-cowboys.de), and the
Munich Cowboy Juniors team sells the game
program at the gate for a small contribution
(Eur 1-2).
Dante Stadion is located at Dante Strasse
14, adjacent to Dante Bad and near the U1
Haltestelle at the West Friedhof cemetery
(probably a coincidence). It is about 700
meters from the Velodrome in the southwest
corner of the Olympia Park in northwest
Munich.
Kick-off is at 1600 hours. We will meet at
the ticket booth at the stadium entrance at
1525 to arrange for tickets, especially if
it is raining. Tickets in the Tribune cost
Eur 9.00 (assigned seats so we need to
purchase a block in case of rain) while
general admission is Eur 7.00. If you miss
us at the ticket booth, we can meet at the
food stand between 1530-1545 â just
look
for
the smoke.
After the game and weather-permitting, we
can run our own option play and adjourn to
the nearby Taxis Biergarten.
Start me up!
